10 basketball cuts to get open and receive a pass, and the 11th cut is Allen Iverson Cut.

There are 10 major basketball cuts to get open and receive a pass for an individual on an offensive situation.  Here are the 10 major cuts plus one extra cut:


  1. Backdoor Cut
  2. V-Cut
  3. L-Cut
  4. Curl-Cut
  5. Flare-Cut
  6. Deep-Cut
  7. UCLA-Cut
  8. Front-Cut
  9. Shallow-Cut
  10. Flash-Cut
  11. Iverson-Cut

The Iverson Cut is named after Allen Iverson and it is a cut where a player starts cutting from a baseline to the wing vertically, and usually receives a ball outside of the three point line.  It is amazing to see how this cut is named after a player which tells much of the influence to the game by the hall of fame.
