When the defense is tight and the game is competitive, it is really hard to find an open shot with a space.  Therefore, screen the screener, is a very effective way of misdirecting a defense and allowing a defense to decide on what to do.  In other words, guard screens inside big, and then use another screen to get an open shot is a very effective in tight defense.
